My passion for art began in early childhood. Children’s books and films taught me pictorial communication before any education in classical art. From the age of twelve, I attended classes at The Art Institute of Chicago, which sparked a desire to understand history through art and instilled my love of painting live models.
The human figure continues to be a source of inspiration for me. The figures and animals that enter my work speak to me like friends, as I hope they do for the viewer, they are metaphors for compassionate love in everyday living.
